To a great extent, the IH ultra heavy flannel (UHF) shirts define Iron Heart: heavy, rugged, but amazingly wearable. The 12oz fabric is woven with Aspero cotton from the foothills of the Andes mountains. They double brush it on the inside and single brush it on the outside, resulting in a very soft yet substantial, thick, warm and windproof flannel. This shirt is a wardrobe staple—seen here in our work shirt cut with a blue American check. 

Because IH now uses a reactive dyeing process for their UHF fabrics—as opposed to the direct dye technique used on older variations—this plaid features a subtler colour palette compared to the vibrant checks from previous seasons. Whereas those older direct-dyed fabrics would mellow in appearance after a few washes, this new dyeing method is far more colourfast. To counter this, they have muted the colours slightly to offer a more worn-in appearance from the get-go.

Fabric Focus

One-Washed

- Post construction, IH washes the completed garment in an aggressive industrial washing machine. This process removes virtually all potential shrinkage.
- No further shrinkage is expected when washed according to the IH care guidelines

Care Guidelines

• IH recommends washing this garment at 30°C with a low (or no) spin cycle. Hang dry, do not tumble dry
