Kobahi Studio | Chrysanthemum Bandana | Burgundy “Azuki-iro” | BN53BG

CHF 39.00

Kobashi about his Bandana:

Made in Japan

Silk-screen printed bandana made by a scarf company founded in Tokyo in 1918.

100% cotton, with the color penetrating through to the reverse side.

The color is Azuki-iro, a traditional Japanese shade inspired by the red azuki bean and similar to burgundy. It has long been regarded in Japan as an auspicious color associated with celebration and good fortune.

Hand illustrated by Junichi Kobashi.

The chrysanthemum motif is based on Ken-giku, a style of chrysanthemum with pointed petals resembling the tip of a Japanese sword. The design was inspired by motifs found on Japanese crafts dating back several centuries.
