We commissioned a custom-made yarn using top-tier extra-long staple Supima cotton, spun with a pronounced, irregular slub texture. By weaving this yarn on vintage power looms under minimal tension, we created an ideal fabric that is soft and supple yet rich in character and texture. Much like Sugar & Co.’s signature "Gentle Pants" and "Daddy’s Pants," this piece offers a fresh take on denim; rather than the standard trucker jacket style, we chose to craft it as a cropped car coat.

While the design draws inspiration from automotive heritage, it was created primarily as an essential, everyday garment suited to a mature lifestyle. It features a relaxed fit with just the right amount of roominess. The length—covering the hips without being too long or too short—creates a versatile silhouette that flatters everyone.

It offers a more sophisticated look than a standard denim jacket, yet retains that same effortless, throw-on-and-go appeal. It strikes a truly exceptional balance. Sugar & Co. has introduced a new staple piece designed to be enjoyed for its fading and aging characteristics over time. This item can be worn as a matching set with the "Gentle Pants"—slacks-style denim crafted from the same original selvedge denim—and, like the trousers, it fully embodies the distinctive style of Sugar & Co.
